malleable. evelynn is capable of shifting her physical appearance between her shadowed form (closest to her fully inhuman state), the guise of a fully human woman, and everything both outside and in-between. her appearance is carefully tailored to the locale she chooses to hunt in that night; evelynn can precisely shape her shadow-flesh to imitate the form of most living things, though her favored (and most practiced) physical appearance is that of a pale-skinned woman with shadows that shift across her skin, revealing some and hiding the rest. always, she disguises or hides her lashers and horns; when shadowed, there is no reason to mask her true nature, and thus they are able to be perceived by any sharp enough to witness her in the dark.
PERSONALITY.
sadistic. outwardly, she presents to her victims the front of whatever they might desire, by probing their hearts and finding their deepest wants. to others, she is calm, casual, and often overly familiar. evelynn behind the mask is cold, calculating, and utterly concerned with herself. she is a demon occupied entirely by the pursuit of momentary pleasure, constantly chasing the high of past stimulus from all the world’s agony during the rune wars – her victims are subject to any and all torment she can conceive of. evelynn showers her prey in cooed terms of endearment while her claws and lashers carve myriad patterns and chunks from their skin. they become dying, mutilated meat, and, therefore, useless.

the world knows her by many names, as a cautionary tale, a monster. evelynn knows herself as a hunter, one that can never escape hunger and its encroaching numbness.
evelynn is spurred on by her own all-consuming need for the pain of others. she is ravenous, and insatiable. nearly every action she takes ties back into that singular goal – without that thrill, she fears she will fall back into the nothingness that defined her early existence.
ORIGIN.
FROM NOTHINGNESS, RUNETERRA WAS CRAFTED USING THE POWER OF THE WORLD RUNES...
when the world was young, the first spirits came to be upon it. they were creatures unbound from flesh, immortal, yet intangible, capable of evolving beyond their insignificant beginnings, mere wisps before a planet exploding into life.
one such spirit remained still for eons. it did not live, but could not die, and neither the warring of gods nor the footfalls of mortals could wake it. within the land, it hung in a state of half-existence, not even possessed of the ability to perceive itself or the world around it.
while it slept, the world changed; continents split apart, deities shaped the land, and mortal things began to emerge. humans were among these new species; settling all over runeterra, they began their own histories, learning to live among the great powers surrounding them. in time, they outlived many of the beings that came before them; the gods retreated to unknown locales, and spirits hid themselves away or diluted their essence with mortality.
and, still, the spirit slept.
as civilizations rose and fell, the world runes, kept secret because of their cataclysmic energy, went undisturbed for eons. but this order was lost to the ruination, and without them, the locations of these artifacts became known; unrest grew between nations, each looking to possess and protect themselves from this power. though a parley was attempted, it ended in the complete decimation of neutral ground by the power of only two world runes.
unrest erupted into war.
unrestrained magical power tore the world asunder. runes were weaponized by anyone who could find them, and nations were brought to their knees. the land was scorched, the seas boiled, and the world knew suffering as it never had.
finally, at this, the spirit stirred.
its nothingness was pierced by the world’s chaos; for the first time, it felt something —
— motion. excitement. elation.
it drank deep, and, in the process, grew into something else; a creature — a parasite — bound by nature to consume the basest of human emotion.
a demon.
IDENTITY.
THE ONLY PLEASURE IT HAD EVER KNOWN WAS BORN FROM OTHER CREATURES' MISERY...
the rune wars escalated, and the demon feasted, nourished by an array of anguish and loss. the outpouring of agony overwhelmed its limited perception, sensation flooding its spectral form. it knew nothing but the burning pleasure it experienced by way of consuming the pain around it, and climbed higher and higher as the destruction reached its peak.
but all too soon, it ended.
from the rune wars, the world was broken, but many worked to heal it; the open wounds of the past became the scars of the present. for those few survivors of the conflict, newfound peace was welcomed; for the demon, however, it presented a terrible eventuality. without the world’s suffering, it would fall once again into the void of its origin, feeling nothing, knowing nothing.
its desperation grew. having now known stimulation, it was unwilling to let go of it so soon.
if the world would not provide the pain it required to gratify itself, it would have to create it personally.
thus did it shape itself into something tangible, capable of interacting with the world outside. it emerged into the world as a newborn might; its sight blurred, its movement uncertain —

in a world split between humanity and the demonic, the blood moon cult labors to unite mortal and demon, working towards an ever greater darkness.
a demon from within the realm beyond the physical, evelynn is summoned on the night of the blood moon. she drifts from village to village, wooing the residents into her arms before she reveals her true self -- formless, faceless -- and tears them to shreds.
